Five months after super Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines there is a feeling of optimism and recovery in Culion, Palawan.
The latest update from Simbahang Lingkod ng Bayan (SLB – the Jesuit Social Justice mission in the Philippines) outlines a trip to Isla Culion, during which they distributed boats and boat materials to beneficiaries. This planned development comes after the basic needs of shelter, food and medical aid for those affected by the disaster. The boats that were swept away by the hurricane was the primary tool for livelihood for many people, and the distribution of these boats will allow people to begin to rebuild their lives. We would like to thank all of you who helped to raise €152,024 for the relief effort.
