The Jesuit Centre for Theology and Reflection (JCTR) in Lusaka empowers local communities who are on the margins of society due to lack of education and poverty, to stand up for their human rights by influencing public policy that affects their access to education, healthcare, clean water and sanitation.
The Promoting Access to Economic, Social and Cultural Rights in Marginalised Areas of Zambia with a focus on Education, Health and Water & Sanitation programme has empowered communities to challenge their local political representatives to demand that they provide them with access to sanitation and clean water. It has done this by educating local community leaders about their rights and the political process.
